Everyone keeps talking about who they saw playing what, just go to a music store and spend some time on each one YOURSELF... Pedals are so personal and everybody has an opinion that may have nothing to do with how your body feels to them. I can sit down and with in 5 minutes, I can tell if the pedal and I are going to get along... Good luck!!!

Don't forget one thing very important, Jojo, Thomas or all this great drummer can play their stuff on all drums or drum pedals that you could find...
Have some good gear helps, but the drummer is the key.

I agree with drumdawg and N40. Spend lots-o-time at a pro shop and try them all!! Don't take anybodies word. If the salesman gives you a hard time, get pissed and tell them to piss off you wanker. Get away from me you tosser!! (that'll learn em!). But really.... if they give you a hard time like they do at these McDonalds of music stores out here, tell em your gonna buy something and you need to make sure its what you want. Play them with a kit that is similar to what you're using. Get "comfortable" with them. N40's point is true.... but good equipment just makes it that much easier to be consistant.

Note: Jojo is currently developing and designing a prototype pedal by himself to specifically accommodate his way of playing.

My pedal is a DW 5002 A single chain from around 1996. At the time, it was THE pedal to have, which was the reason I bought it. It has held up pretty well over the years, but with recent developments (new pedal designs and guys like Virgil, Mangini, Lang taking pedal technique to a whole other stratosphere) I feel it leaves something to be desired.
As Burzmali pointed out, one of my biggest complaints is that it feels like the pedal is playing me, not the other way around. So all the DW advertising about the bearings and hinges and universals and this and that doesn't really mean much to me.
Another thing I don't like is that the footboard is kind of small (I wear size 13 flippers), and the heel is studded and squared-off (unlike the smooth, tapered heel of the Pearl Eliminators).
Weckl said that when he helped design the new Yamaha Flying Dragon pedals, he insisted that the bearings be "toned down" because he was tired of the pedal playing him. I've tried that pedal in the stores, and it's got a good feel, but it's got a small footboard and that squared-off heel plate--great if you have small feet, but I could never get comfortable playing it.
To my untrained eye, I will say that the DW 9000 really looks like an impressive piece of machinery. It's a very smooth action, and the footboard seems to be a little bigger, but it's got that cursed DW feel that it's playing me (plus that damned square heel plate).
The Pearl Eliminators seem to be a great design and a great value. I've tried them out (I even got to play Virgil's pedal on his drumkit, and Mangini's on his drums after a clinic)....Virgil's felt pretty good, but Mangini's and the ones I've tried in stores felt a little "off"....the action just didn't seem right to me.
The Iron Cobra has an okay action, but the footboard size and heelplate just don't feel comfortable to me.
I want to get a new pedal, but I'm a little hesitant to spend any cash now......I get the feeling we are on the verge of a new wave of pedal designs coming out. There's the Bob Gatzen DW pedal, and rumors of more manufacturers coming out with direct-drive linkages, new cam options, and bigger/longer footboards.
Anyway....happy hunting, and above all, get whatever works best for you....
This past weekend I lost everything that I owned when a storage unit I was renting flooded.
The only things that survived were the DW 5000 double pedal and a Dewalt drill. I will be a staunch supporter of both brands here on out.

Try the Sonor Giant Step....yes it's pricey, but it's the best-feeling pedal I've ever played.
